SWACHHAND, the valley of silence

The West Ridge of Peak 6172 is considered an interesting climb, it's almost completely with some steep rock wall at the top. The Glacier is a tributary of the Swachhand Gangotri glacier and flows towards the southwest (the word means Swachh Saaf, untouched or pure). The Glacier, 8 km long ranges from 500 to 800 meters wide. Six other glaciers feed the Swachhand Bamak which is surrounded by a chain of large peaks ranging from 6172m 7075m to the Satopanth. Towering above the entrance of the valley and the Gangotri glacier, stands the 6172 peak is clearly visible when approaching the western side of the massif of Chaukhamba. The imposing ridge walks in the Northeast Peak and reach the glacier in 6532 that divides Swachhand than the Maiandi. The valley of Swachhand, although it is rarely visited the climber's paradise, offering every possible type of climbing on mixed arrampicata.Dai Big Walls, by the steep walls of ice to those subject to landslides, the valley has it all! With the exception of very few attempts and even fewer results, many of the majestic mountains of the valley await their first ascent. The valley, though not easily accessible, is a precious jewel for the enormous value and potential for climbing. But here as in other Himalayan glaciers, the accumulation of glacial debris are evidence of the shrinkage of glaciers, serious consequence that should concern and worry about all of humanity.
